The Monument Wetlands Are Open
Monument’s 4.2-hectare wetlands are now open! After two years of construction and 80,000m3 of earth moving the completion of the wetlands is a significant milestone for the estate.
Located on the corner of Plumpton and Taylors Roads, the wetlands have been strategically designed with a mixed-use path, an observation deck and four fitness stations to provide visitors a green space for active and passive use.
The wetlands will provide a habitat for plant and animal species and support the liveability of the area for a sustainable future. The wetlands boast an extensive range of flora with over 80,000 plantings, including indigenous varieties that will provide crucial habitat and nesting grounds for a plethora of wildlife.
Local residents and visitors alike will have the opportunity to use the natural space, not only for recreation but to see the importance of the wetlands as a key urban resource.
Wetlands play an important role in an urban environment with key features such as replenishing drinking water, filtering waste, reducing flooding whilst also providing a green space.
Resi Ventures co-founder, Khurram Saeed said “It’s a sense of accomplishment to complete the wetlands, especially with the industry challenges we experienced throughout the construction phase from COVID delays to staff and material shortages.
“We’ve spent over $4.5 million dollars on delivering this wetland for our residents, to enhance their lifestyle and foster a sense of community.”
For residents living at Monument, the wetlands opening offers respite from the bustling city life. Plus, all the added health benefits that living near a green space yields.
